Windmill Pump: Chernco Pumps
Chernco pumps and valves are sand cast using LG2 bronze which gives them their superior corrosive resistance. The life of this alloy compared to brass in hard waters is greater due to the tin in the LG2 preventing dezincification typified by the pink colour that many brass components turn during use.
For even harsher conditions a range of specialty alloys are available to cast what ever components you need, so you are able to have piece of mind knowing our components will last.
Pump barrel
Both our flush cap and draw plunger pump barrels are made from drawn and hardened arsenic brass. The fraction of 1% trace of arsenic prevents dezincification of the tubing and gives it its hard wearing properties.
Other manufactures chose lower grades of tubing for their pumps and this choice only leads to a pump with a shorter life and more work for you.
Pump options
The valves in our Flush Cap Pumps are rubber faced mushroom valves while a range of options are available for our Draw Plungers. These options include, rubber faced, rubber faced spring loaded, solid brass and solid 316 stainless. Other option on our DPPs is recessing the bottom of the barrel allowing easy bottom valve pick up.
A full range of strokes are available in both our Flush Cap Pumps as well as our Draw Plungers. Non standard cap sizes are also available for all our Flush Cap and Draw Plungers.
Float valves
All Chernco Float valves are made from sand cast LG2 bronze and feature a replaceable acrylic valve face that will not corrode.
A one piece cast arm allows strong direct pressure back on to the valve flap ensuring positive sealing every time. Two float types are available being, round plastic floats or the traditional rectangular foam float.
