Screen Printing Services
Clothing and many promotional items are most commonly produced by screen printing.
How screen printing works
A screen is made of a piece of porous, fine fabric (originally silk, but typically made of polyester or nylon since the 1940s) stretched over a frame. Areas of the screen are blocked off with a non-permeable material—a stencil—which is a positive of the image to be printed; that is, the open spaces are where the ink will appear.
The screen is placed on top of a piece of dry paper or fabric. Ink is placed on top of the screen, and a rubber squeege blade is used to push the ink into the screen openings and onto the surface being printed. The ink passes through the open spaces and is then lifted away. If more than one color is being printed on the same surface, the ink is allowed to dry and then the process is repeated with another screen and different color of ink.
Screen printing promotional items
Screeprinting is the best option when you have a large image area available. Modern screenprinting machinery allows large numbers of items to be processed quickly and accurately which makes the process ideal for the branding of promotional products.
Take for example the humble cotton bag or non woven printed shopping bag, like the type you feel obliged to buy at the supermarket. This generally drab item can become a fashion accessory with the right combination of design and quality printing. As a way of getting bang for your buck, screenprinting is the best method to get a large image at a relatively low price. In large runs screenprinting is easily the most economical branding method and the best value available to promotional premium buyers.
