Prescale film can accurately measure pressure, pressure distribution and pressure balance. The film is extremely thin yet stable, at 200 µm.

 The Prescale film provides an easy visual check of distribution/uniformity for contact pressure. It can help to inform the user about worn parts or uneven contact in industrial applications, or in specialised applications like the analysis of pressure distribution on a person’s footstep.

As well as a simple comparative visual check for pressure distribution, the film image can be scanned onto a computer and the Prescale software can turn the colour densities into pressure values. Parts of the image can be zoomed in on and pressure values at individual points can be extracted.

There are seven Prescale ranges for varying applications. These range from 50 kPa to 300 MPa. The films come in either sheets or rolls and can be cut to size for your application. Without the need for complex measurement instrumentation, Prescale film can save on the costs of pressure measurement.

Prescale is the only pressure measuring material available in the world, and its ease-of-use can be applied in those places where load cells and other sensors cannot reach or are of the wrong dimensions for. Prescale also gives a high resolution pressure distribution, whereas load cells only output an average.

Pressures lasting for as little as 1 ms can be measured, which means that applications such as car impact testing are possible as well as controllable applications such as using manual presses.

Other applications include the adjustment of pressure distribution in automotive parts, ground contact pressure of tyres, the contact uniformity in rollers used for paper and film production, the contact uniformity in sealing equipment, and pressure uniformity in the production of semiconductors, PCBs and LCDs.
