The EN50155 standard measures a range of characteristics vital to an instrument's capability for a long lifespan. Under clause 5 - electrical service conditions the lights were tested for a range of aspects, including the following:
- 5.1.1 Variations
- 5.1.2 Interruptions
- 5.1.3 Supply changeover
- 5.1.4 Ripple
- 5.2 Supply over-voltage
The EN50121-3-2 standard tests if a module is capable of being mounted next to other instruments without disrupting function. If a device is made to this standard is able to be applied anywhere on the locomotive without concern for interference.
The following tests were completed under this standard:
- RF emissions to 1GHz
- RF immunity to 6GHz at high levels
- Conducted immunity
- Fast transients EFT
- Surge
- ESD
The IEC71 / IEC61373 standard tests a module capacity to withstand high levels of shock and vibration without compromise to functionality or structural integrity. This standard of tests are designed to ensure that a product can survive in the harsh industrial environments of rollingstock.
The RIA12 standard ensures that our product will withstand potential and specific levels of power surges. The tests of this standard are also included in the above EN50155 standard.
These lights are distributed to the majority of Australian states and territories, and are now available with the above mentioned quality standards.
