ProductBenco Pack 'Form-Fill-Seal' Machine
HBM Plastics & Packaging Technologies - This horizontal thermoforming machine is equipped with various hi-tech solutions to ensure suitability for the demanding Dairy Industry according to Benco Pack, who have 30 years experience in the aseptic dairy business.Benco Pack have announced their first ‘aseptic’ installation in China - commenced production at the Kowloon Dairy of long shelf life mini-portions of creamers using a Benco Pack FFS machine. The Miniasepack/20-b ‘form-fill-seal’ machine will be producing 10ml and 15ml mini-portion packs of coffee creamers. Sterilisation of the machine is provided via several processes: Before the packaging cycle, the machine automatically carries out the following pre-sterilization operations: After the completion of the pre-sterilization cycle, the machine aseptically packages the product according to the standard packaging phases of a horizontal FFS machine. In order to prevent contamination with the outside environment, Benco Pack use an overpressure of sterile air (or inert gas) in the feeding tank and along the aseptic tunnel, where all heating, forming, filling and film edge pre-sealing takes place. All the mechanical drives inside the machine aseptic tunnel are protected by continuously temperature controlled steam barriers. Filling is carried out by means of a fully aseptic filling unit and the packaging materials are sterilized in line prior to entering the sterile filling zone. Sterilization is carried out by passing the materials into a hydrogen peroxide bath (35% concentration) at a constant temperature of 50-55°C. Drying devices such as mechanical dryers, sterile air blows and infrared ray lamps, guarantee that H2O2 is completely removed from both films after sterilization. Final lid sealing on the cups and the cutting of the same occurs outside the machine sterile zone because after the pre-sealing of the two films, the inside of the cup, and therefore the product, is completely isolated from the external environment. The new generation of packaging lines are all designed with 3D software tools, Windows-based HMI (touch-screen panel) and are equipped with control systems connected through fieldbus (profibus standard) allowing easier diagnostic via modem for remote assistance.
